Even Spam has a Silver Lining.
I got hacked this week. Actually, I’m told the correct word is “Spoofed.”
Basically, some bad person got into my GMail account and sent a link for Viagra to about 100 of my contacts before Google stopped it. If your first name begins with A, B, C, or D, you may have gotten one.
I am really, really, really sorry! I changed my password, and the sage Google advice says that should do it.
That said, there were a few good things that came out of this.
1. A number of people I hadn’t heard from in a while wrote to me and asked me how the new leather repair business is going. That was nice.
2. A couple of people let me know I had a hacker/virus and told me how to fix it. That was kind.
3. Three of my friends thought the e-mail was real and thought I was actually sending them an ad for Viagra. That was funny.
4. Two people told me the Viagra price was a good deal. That was funnier.
5. One friend, whom I haven’t chatted with in a long time, gave me some really good tips on how grow my leather, vinyl, plastic, fabric repair business. (I’m told this listing of terms increases my SEO. I’ll keep you posted on the results). That was awesome!
So, if you get hacked, and I hope you don’t, but, if you do, make the best of it. Your friends will understand. I know I will.
BTW – Ruth Ann (beautiful bride) says if you receive the internet e-mail hoax about us being stranded in London without money, go ahead and send some to us. She said something about having to pay bills. Soooo serious!
