Repairs and the River Run

We’ve been busy!  In the past couple of weeks, in addition to a car seat for a private owner, we did jobs at Matthew’s in San Marco, The Brick in Avondale, and Mudville Grille in St. Nicholas.  We repaired a couch with both cat scratches and dog bites and removed a stain  on a booth at the University Club at the top of the Riverplace Tower on the Southbank!

Thursday and Friday, Carey and Brian spent all day at the River Run Expo.  This was their 8th consecutive year collecting gently used running shoes, which they dropped off after the race at the St. Francis Soup Kitchen downtown.   St. Francis operates in the basement of  Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, right next door to Catholic Charities, and the homeless people they feed are incredibly grateful for the gift of shoes.  Carey enjoyed another year of running in his signature race outfit—hula skirt, Hawaiian shirt, and sunglasses.  Jacksonville.com featured him online.   If you want to know how that tradition got started, it’s a funny story—ask one of us!
